Fake Nurse in Florida: 4,486 Patients, Zero Nursing License!
Florida's medical drama hits a new low as a woman posed as a nurse and treated thousands without a license, according to police.
Florida is serving up some serious Grey's Anatomy-level chaos! Meet Autumn Bardisa, the 29-year-old who reportedly treated 4,486 unsuspecting patients without ever holding a valid nursing license. Yep, you read that right.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Bardisa's alleged escapade began in July 2023 at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway. She convinced the hospital she was an "education first" registered nurse by claiming she had passed the necessary exams, using a license number from another nurse with the same first name. She even spun a tale about a recent marriage to explain away discrepancies. Spoiler alert: the marriage license was never produced.
Things unraveled when Bardisa was up for a promotion. A suspicious coworker noticed her expired nursing assistant license and blew the whistle. When Bardisa couldn't confirm her identity, she was fired, and the hospital called in the sheriff's department.
Law enforcement said Bardisa was knee-deep in medical duties for thousands of patients without a legit nursing credential. She was arrested on charges of practicing without a license and fraudulent identity use, with her bond set at $70,000.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly called it "one of the most disturbing cases of medical fraud," saying Bardisa risked "thousands of lives." The hospital admitted missing some red flags, like the missing marriage license and glaring info discrepancies.
